Charlton’s Small Pond 19/08/12
My friend Adam
from work asked me to pop out fishing with him as we he is getting back in to
the sport after downing his rods some time a go..... so I thought is best to
take him and with 2 kids to my local venue Charlton’s and we fished the little
pond.
On arriving at the pond at 11am the weather was sunny and hot, but later rained heavy and then got out sunny again, we left the venue at 2.30.
I helped Adam and the little ones setup their rods and then I setup my Garbolino 9ft Super Squad Picker with a Preston 15g Banjo feeder filled with Ringers method mix and added micro pellets, I used a size 16 pre tied Preston quickstop 4” hair rig with single sweetcorn and fished to open water about 20 yards out.
Bites were steady for the 3 and a half hours that we fished, although some of the bits were very shy. To my delight I caught my first ever Crucian carp which weighed in at 1lb 2oz, I also pulled in a nice Bream at 1lb 8oz and also pulled in 5 Skimmers which were about 1lb each. Adam ended up catching 1 Skimmer which was about 12oz.
While there the bailiff from Billingham Angling Club come to checked that we all had our licenses and a guy and his son come and asked me for some advice on casting.
Unfortunately, when I got home I bounced my flask on the floor which smashed into bits and I guess I will have to buy a new one.
All in all an excellent couple of hours fishing with a friend and I will be going fishing with him again sometime soon.

Renny Carp big lake 18/8/12
My friend
Andy and I had a chance to pop down Renny Lake for a couple of hours. I picked
him put at 6 after going for a MacDonald’s coffee of course and we fished 7
until 12, as he had to go to work.
It had rained heavy during the night and was still raining when we got to the lake at 6.30am, but is stopped shortly after we got there, most of the morning was overcast.
We had a look around all 3 lakes before we started fishing to find 1 dead carp (about 3lb) and a small dead silver in the match lake, the electric fence was sparking round the original small lake and the big carp lake appeared to be ok, but 2 dead carp floated past later.
I fished using my Garbolino 9ft Super Squad Picker with a Preston 15g Banjo feeder filled with Ringers method mix and added micro pellets, I used a size 18 pre tied Preston quickstop 4” hair rig with double sweetcorn and I fished to an island.
The lake fished really well and I was on to my 11th carp by the time Andy (on the peg next to me) had landed his first carp. However, after I set him up on a method feeder he started to catch.
For myself it fished really well and I pulled in some 19 carp about the 1lb mark and Andy trailed a little behind with 11 carp, also around the 1lb mark. Though I have to mention that although I had a nice mornings fishing, the stamp of the carp was poor with lots of the fish having marks, scars and some open wounds.
I probable will pop back to Renny to fish the small lake, but I will wait until the 6 weeks holidays are over and the kids back at school.

Yarm Fishery 04/08/12
This trip was a mini match which I organised at
Yarm Fishery and 3 of the lads from Anglers Cabin attended (Andyryan, Big-Shaun
and Andy1984robson). We met at 8 to draw pegs and we fished from
9 until 2, I draw peg 3.
The weather: the sun was out and it was HOT.
I decided to fish using my Preston CRX600 pole to the island at 13m and fished on the deck and my bait of choice was maggots and micro pellets.
Unfortunately, it was a hard fish, and I landed 3 small Tench, and 4 small Roach.
1st Big_Shaun with 4lb 8oz
2nd Me with 12oz
3rd Andyryan DNW
Disqualified Andy1984robson (using 2 rods, but also DNW)
In summary I think I will wait for the lake
to mature before I venture there again.
On the funny side Andy1984robson got his pole rig stuck half
way up a tree.
