River Tees Pike Fishing

Got up at 5 this morning to do a little spinning on the river Tees, we started off by testing the waters at Preston Park, but to no Joy. We then went to Yarm to test the waters. Unfortunately, no fish today, not even a bite, although a nice Perch showed off at my feet but it was not interested in my spinner.

I fished using my Shimano Catana 240m spinning rod, Shimano 4000fd reel with 12lb line to a 20lb wire trace and used a mixture of a Shakespeare S plug lure and Adu spinner.

The weather was cold at first, but turned into a lovely sunny morning. The bank is still very slippy due to the resent flood.
Not sure at this point when my next trip out will be, hopefully this coming Wednesday.

The Carrs Angling Lakes

Just a little blog of my last couple of trips which have been to The Carr’s Carlton (Stockton-on-Tees).

Unfortunately I have been suffering with back pain recently so on my first trip I could only fish the top 3 of my Preston CRX600 pole with a size 6 elastic. However, this paid off superbly and I managed a 17lb mix bag in only a couple of hrs.

These fish were bagged on the silver lake with is the newest lake on the Carr’s complex. I also met the owner who is a really nice guy.

On my second trip to Carr’s I fished lake one on an undisclosed peg and bagged my first ever Barbel, which was followed by another 7 of them in quick succession and my first Chub. I fished the method on this trip with a 8mm pellet on a hair rig.

The third and fourth trip was a bit of a disaster, the third trip was on lake one and I lost about £10 worth of gear, I went home after been snapped 3 times and on the fourth trip i fished the silver lake, it rained for 6 hrs nonstop and I only caught 5 fish.

Hope you enjoyed reading my blog, my next trip is tomorrow for my first Piking experience, so will be up at 5am,

I have also invested in a new Shimano Catana spinning rod, a new Shimano reel and various types of spinners.
